Bouviers like to keep us guessing. In the first story, Ellie was probably responding to his voice telling you to put a leash on. You could tell he doesn't understand dogs very much or else he uses that tone on his dog and probably gets the reaction he likes... a quivering dog. Oh how a Bouvier could wise him up in about 5 minutes.
