Denise I don't think some pet owners have a clue! Sorry, your post...
I don't care if it's Border Collies or Bouviers, many pet people think of dogs as "things" in a box. You get them out, play with them for awhile, and put them away. Like latch-key kids, many people ask me why their dogs are messing up all the time. It isn't the dog!

I had a lawyer call me about herding lessons and she said she didn't want to work the dog. "I'm older and that's your job to train it." Well stop right there. It's a TEAM THING! Dogs are pack animals and need one exposure some days. You can't purchase a dog like the Bouvier and think it isn't going to do stuff. Inside there are neat things to smell, touch, and taste.

Pet owners who are not active should NEVER get an active breed dog, never. Within a few months, they will pull their hair out and some may become abusive to the animal. Can't take out your issues on something which you brought into the home. Bottom line is simple, make the choice to be a FULL TIME owner and caretaker or get a stuffed animal!
