Yep, I've seen it happen to... and even with "Professional" Bouvier groomers as well. Most chain store groomers do ok with the standard breeds and with dogs of people that don't know how their dog is suppose to look in the first place, but if they are groomers that can do a good job on the non-standard breeds, then they probably wouldn't be working at places like PetSmart. And I'd never take their word for it that they know what they are doing.
At least with hair, it does grow back. Vets that say they know how to dock tails or crop ears and don't, well, that's a different story.
