hi,
I have a 2-year old female grey brindle bouvier who has a coarse coat that tends to get dry (particularly on the back). I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good moisturizing, conditioning product that we can use to keep her coat well moisturized, soft, and healthy? Thanks! Stella |

Hi Stella,
My favorite conditioner is Best Shot's Ultra Vitalizing Spray. It's a very lightly mint scented protein spray that conditions the coat and also helps control static. I use it on the dogs whenever I want their coat to look fresh and clean. I just mist it on, go over the coat with a slicker, and the dogs look and smell like they were just bathed and blown out. See www.bestshotpet.com They have a terrific deal under their SPECIALS tab. See Combination #3. You get full sized products to try and a very good deal too. See the list below. Usual disclaimer: I have no interest in this company... just like and use their products. Pet Edge also carries some of their products, including gallons. I buy the protein spray and One Shot there since the pricing is better. The other thing that will help coat is to make sure you have enough Omega 3 & 6 sources in your dog's diet. Some folks use fish oil caps or salmon oil or feed canned mackeral, sardines, or other fish. A couple eggs a week is also helpful in supplying fat in the dog's diet. Cheers, Sue 12 oz. Ultra Wash™ Shampoo 12 oz. Ultra Plenish™ Conditioner 16 oz. Ultra Vitalizing Mist™ 12 oz. M.E.D. Shampoo™ 12 oz. M.E.D. Topical Solution™ 16 oz. Lemon-Aid™ 16 oz. One Shot Rinse 16 oz. All Natural Bug Spray 16 oz. Scentamint Cologne Combination |

I have used two very good moisturizers/detanglers for my previous Bouv and other Bouv's that I've groomed. One is Queen Helene Moisturizing conditioner. Its a creme conditioner, its usually used for humans, but works well on Bouvs with a harsh or napped coat. I have also used Mane n' Tail conditioner, by Straight Arrow. It works well on our horses too. One of the stable groomers told me that she used it on her Airdale, so I figured I'd try it, and it worked pretty good. I found them both at Sally's Hair and Nail supply store and once at WalMart.
