It would be helpful (hint hint) if Sue would post a few things on starting a young dog out in carting, i.e. how would one go about it step by step initially. Some folks (ahem) have had this explained to them, but perhaps they have forgotten what was said & how to start.
What say you Scarlet's grandma? |

Ha! You expect her to take such a mild hint like that, Sarah.
Hopefully. It would help if we had more people around here interested in carting... at least interested enough to want to get out and cart around the area. But just like herding and agility, although there is some, it's spread out all over the Northwest rather than fairly close like it is for you over on the other side of the US. Mike |

Ditto. I don't know of anyone in my immediate vicinity that has done or is even interested in carting. I have a friend with a couple of Border Collies that might be interested, but, like me, she is unsure how to start and then proceed in training it. If I knew how to begin to train , maybe I could start a stampede for folks in beginning carting. hahaha |

Hey Sarah, I just happen to have written a carting manual. I'll dig one up and send you a copy.
I need to get the rigs dusted off here too. Frank and I are teaching carting at a three day dog camp at the coast in September so we need to get in some practice time between now and then. Cheers, Sue |

Most excellent. Scarlet & I will wait with baited breath--and I'm not sure what hers is baited with--probably something from out in the yard. |

So have you seen hide nor paw of the manual? Maybe your breath wasn't baited enough?
