NEW UKC Champion!

:) Hello Everyone! I guess i will make the first thread in conformation. I recently started to show my Bouvier, Windy in UKC shows. She finished her championship with two Group 2 wins! My girl is UKC Ch Aristes Windy City Girl and she is 19 months old.

We hope to start her later this year or next year in herding or tracking and of course more obedience, rally and agility.

so is there anyone else out here who also shows conformation?

Well, at least your other choices are pretty good, but conformation... well, I think it's boring myself. :D We've shown some of our dogs in conformation and I've done a lot of conformation photography at different shows, but mostly we've leaned towards the working aspects of the Bouvier. Carting, agility, herding, and other areas where a Bouvier can be judged, not by who owns them or did what favor for the judge, but by their ability to perform. When a Bouvier comes in with the fastest perfect agility score or gets all the sheep through the designated gates and back to the pen without losing any, you know they deserve the titles they get. But that's the good thing about the Bouvier breed, they are versitile and can do all of these and more. And just because they aren't good or don't like doing one thing, they might excel and love doing something else. Of course you could end up like the soccor mom who is always running around to take their "kids" to the different events. :D

Thank you Mike! well, see I have to get neck surgery, so I started rather late in showing her and am having to wait to do any kind of fun work for her that requires much out of me :( BUt give us a chance next spring! Carting sounds like fun too!

Carting is a lot of fun, although it's important that the dog(s) think it's fun also. If they are introduced to it so they have a good experience, most do enjoy it. We've seen people though that tried to strap a cart on their dog without letting them get use to it first and it was just like a bucking bronco at the rodeo as the dog tried to get lose. It's hard to over come a bad experience without a lot of work. So it's important to start out right.

And most Bouvs go at Bouv speed... which usually means you will get there, but when they good and well want too. :D

Good news to know. I think at our local club picnic they will have a cart to try out. Trying to do temperament testing too. And I fully understand Bouv speed. We all leave to the back yard, my BRT is right at my side, Windy must wait for the door to shut and you to walk away, THEN she will get up, meander to the door and paw at the door.
