Hi I'm Howard Gaines III from Harrington, Delaware. I own and train two Working Bouvier des Flandres with the DELMARVA WORKING DOG GROUP in Harrington, Delaware. I also have two Working Border Collies which are used on the farm and in my goose control business, FIRST STATE BORDER PATROL. I have been involved with dog training since I was about ten. In 2000, I became a certified Schutzhund DVG Trial Helper and a Qualified Training Director. Sorry no longer train for that sport. In addition, I am the co-trainer for the DWDG, a group from the Delmarva area (Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia) which trains for sport and K9 pleasure. There are only two Bouvier folks here in a German Shepherd dominated club...help please!
I feel that the working lines of the old Belgium cattle dog should be kept pure; keeping the working thing, the working thing! My dogs are used in K-9 personal protection and for farm style herding on Katahdin Hair sheep. And if that weren't enough, I am expecting my first Bouvier litter in mid April! I hope to use this venue to learn more about this working breed, to exchange view points with Bouvier owners, and to grow in the working dog area.
