Kathy Robbins called me this morning to talk about a puppy she had gone to see at the Spokane Animal Shelter (http://www.spokanecounty.org/animal/).
This is female puppy about 5 months old who weighs about 50 pounds. She was relinquished by a couple who said they had found her, but the shelter personnel is thinking that was a story and that the couple probably owned the puppy.
She had a bad case of flea dermatitis which explains the funny haircut, but she's been treated and it's clearing up well.
Kathy wanted to pick my brain and see if I thought this pup is a Bouvier or perhaps a mix. My first thought was that Briard was a possibility because of the length of the back, but a Briard breeder has seen the puppy and said no.
There is a lot about this puppy that suggests Bouvier, but after looking at these pictures, both Kathy and I are guessing that there is some sighthound in there too.. perhaps a Deerhound or Wolfhound.
See the pictures below. Kathy says this is a delightful puppy with a happy personality. She needs training of course, but most of all she needs a home.
Contact the shelter directly (see the URL above) if you would like more information about this little girl.
Cheers,
Sue
